MICHIGAN/u.s.a.: Vote on Tuesday,

November 7, 2006

Polls are open 7a.m. - 8p.m.

Michigan Voters will decide on five policy issues at the November 7, 2006 general election. Each will ask for a YES or NO response, and each will be decided by a majority of those voting on the specific question. Michigan's constitution gives citizens a direct role, through popular vote, in amending the constitution and approving or rejecting state laws.

These five issues will appear on the 2006 ballots:

06-1 Natural Resource Funds

06-2 Michigan Civil Rights Initiative

06-3 Dove Hunting Referendum

06-4 Use of Eminent Domain

06-5 Educational Funding Guarantee

I consider that each of us as VOTER's, well, that it is our own personal duty, as it were, to search the Issues and Canidates. This is only a reminder to VOTE. Signed, ConnieG.

'Tis rainy currently here in Metro-Detroit/North area..

Though in past years rain has been a factor in determining

somewhat to a certain degree what the VOTER turnout will be,

I must say it will be to say, at the least,

interesting to note on completion of day what exactly was the

final tally for turnout this day.

The last really Major Election for this particular area was on

September 11, 2001 ...on that Day as the Singer Songwriter

expresses, "Where were you when the world stopped turning..on that

September Morn?"

That September Morn that is sung about is in regards to the

Towers Two of The World Trade Center that fell to the ground as

3,000 were the souls that were taken on that September Morn....

I'm still puzzling over how I'm going to get myself to the polls today, as I don't have a ride and I'm not absolutely clear on where the polling place is. I'm lucky in that I live in a very safe Democratic Congressional district, the ninth district in Washington State. I'm hoping against hope the Dems can gain enough seats in the House to win back control.

Post 7 by krisme (Ancient Zoner) on Tuesday, 07-Nov-2006 16:15:59

Well, I just did my civic duty and have hopefully made some Dems very happy. My local polling place has an accesible voting machine which worked very well. Can't wait till the results come out.

I voted earlier. They had this "new accessible voting machine" that they were all proud about. Only problem was, they couldn't find the earphones and it doesn't have speakers.

My daughter wound up reading the ballot to me, which they started to say wasn't right until I point out I'd call the press, then they thought it'd be okay for my daughter to read the ballot to me.

No shananogans, just stupidity.

BTW: Republicans, don't forget to vote tomorrow, you wouldn't want to miss your chance.

The biggest complaint I've heard in Ohio today is that we have old people running the poles, and they don't know how to operate a machine to save their lives. Now this is just hear say I don't know as I voted absent-t. The issues I'm hoping pass are issue 5 the smoking ban, I hope 4 goes down because it will allow smoking and issue 6 transpirtation tax for our bus service.

...At 5:40 pm I arrived at The local POLLing station (at a local school) on TUESDAY, November 7, 2006 and by 6:24 pm my hand was was touching the Main Door to leave the building/school and to thusly enter into the parking lot... aRainy lite foggy all day...very pleasant.

After I voted... Please NOTE: our POLLing location does NOT use the "Old Fashioned Machines," where with a lever you pull the curtain so as to be enclosed into a privacy area to vote. We ALSO do NOT have the CHAZ VOTER TICKETS...****REMEMBER FLORIDA!!!PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION previous.... Personally do NOT know how anyone could forget~*!*...

Anyhow, after I VOTEd and placed completed BALLOT into proper box, btw used a marker to like Check-Off desired VOTE (Canidates &/or Issues) ...

I was then readied to leave only thing is I noted a Unique like Computer set up and thinking that it may have to do with those of hearing &/or vision difficulities, I went over to the area, a different precient from mine located within same general of VOTEing and inquired of the Computer's use... One who was employed for the day through the City Clerk's office walked me over to the Computer and gave explanation.

Yes, there was a headset to help those with hearing difficulities, also BALLOT could be fed into Computer and by pressing various buttons the print enlarged on the screen so as a person with various limited vision could perhaps be enabled to read and mark BALLOT for themselves. Also the lady who was guiding me through this Computer function explained to me how a BALLOT with a Braille card attached could be read by fingers of one understanding Braille and thusly VOTE by pressing various buttons. I asked Robin, the lady who was explaining this Computer and it's use to me, well, I asked her did she have an example of the BALLOT with the Braille card and she said Yes, and only it was in a secure area, that a few had been in previous during the day and used that particular type of BALLOT and that she would need to go to one higher, her supervisor to get that particular BALLOT with the Braille out of the secure area. I mentioned to her, No, that would be o.K. as the VOTEing lines were long and all who were there to assist the VOTERs were being kept well occupied and that at a later time I would personally check with the City Clerk's Training Office for more information. Robin went back to the head table where she had be assigned to help assist the long line of VOTERs lined up yet to VOTE and I turned to leave the POLLing Place. All in all it was a good experience.

BlBobby: I will mention what happened to you, your personal experience... so as to be on alert here in this local for the Future ELECTIONS.. “THANK YOU” for sharing this difficulty you had and trust that by the time the PRESIDENTAL ELECTIONS 2008 are here this will NOT be a problem here in our local or yours for that matter. **or anywhere else for that matter.

For all who made a POSTing under this BOARD..Just desire say, Much Appreciation…

Connie ~ Grace

ALSO: If any further desire to POST here… you may.. The BOARD remains open…

Rare, Costly Stamp Suspected on Ballot

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Nov. 11) - An absentee ballot was mailed with what may have been a rare stamp worth as much as $200,000 -- the famous Inverted Jenny -- but the envelope is in a box that by law can't be opened.

Broward County Commissioner John Rodstrom discovered the stamp while reviewing absentee ballots. There was no name on the envelope, so the vote didn't count.

What looked like a small stamp collection on one envelope caught Rodstrom's eye about 8 p.m. Tuesday. At least one was from 1936, Rodstrom said. Then he noticed one had an upside-down World War I-era airplane - the hallmark of an Inverted Jenny.

"I was a stamp collector when I was little," Rodstrom told The Miami Herald. "I recognized it."

Rodstrom discussed the stamp with other members of the canvassing board, and a stamp-collecting Broward County sheriff's deputy overheard them talking about the possible Jenny.

He said the stamp would be very valuable if it was real. But it was too late.

"By that time we had already sealed the box. And once you seal the box, under the election law you can't unseal it," Broward County Court Judge Eric Beller said.

Elections officials will retain the ballot for 22 months, Jenny Nash, a spokeswoman for the Florida secretary of state's office, told The Associated Press. After that, any action is up to the county elections supervisor.

A telephone message left with Fred Bellis, the executive assistant to Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes, was not immediately returned Saturday.

Snipes' spokeswoman, Mary Cooney, said the supervisor is too busy with balloting to focus on the stamp. Cooney said ballots and materials are usually destroyed after the 22-month holding period.

"She's (Snipes) not going to be able to take any time to even look at it until after the (ballot) certification on Monday," Cooney told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Maynard Guss, president of the Sunrise Stamp Club, said an Inverted Jenny, if authentic, could be worth $200,000. But when the ballot was mailed the stamp was canceled, reducing its value. Guss estimated a canceled Jenny would likely sell for $20,000 to $100,000.

The 24-cent Jenny stamps were printed in 1918. Sheets were run through presses twice to process all the colors and on one pass, four went through backward. Inspectors caught the errors on three sheets and destroyed them, but somehow, a sheet of 100 stamps got through.

Stamp collectors have spent 88 years trying to find them all.
